Jon Higham has been illustrating since leaving Norwich School of Art in 1983 (BA hons in Graphic Design).

Along the way he has illustrated numerous childrens books, packaging, greetings cards and a wealth of varied commissions as well as being a regular illustrator for BBC childrens magazines. 

Jon's first commission on leaving college was to illustrate Jeremy Nicholas's  "Raspberries and Other Trifles" for Hutchinson (1984). Jon's first picture book was published by Macmillan in 1986. "The Old Man and the Edible Suit" was a humorous retelling of Edward Lears "The New Vestments" and went on to be exhibited alongside an Edward Lear's work in Brighton. Jon went on to write and illustrate "Aardvarks Picnic" (Macmillan 1986) "Bones Birthday" and "Bones Day Out "(Walker Books 1990) as well as compiling and illustrating "Nursery Cats"  (Gollanz 1987). 

Jon has illustrated over 30 children's books  for many publishers including Methuen, Macdonald, Michael O'Mara, Meadowside and Emma Books.

Jons extensive client list also includes interactive BBC Jam, BBC Cbeebies, Sainsburys (Christmas designs 2006), Tesco (Easter eggs), 85 Four/Dubai Health Authority, Paperchase, Early Learning Centre (Birthday Club gift pack as well as online games), Leapfrog San Fransisco, Michael O'Mara, and John Brown Junior.

Outside of his day to day illustration Jon loves to pursue his photography and does occassional teaching at Hastings Art College.

Jon lives in Battle, East Sussex with his partner Katie and daughter Holly.
